Danida Fellowship Centre has two seats available for members of the Danida Alumni Network at the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) in Copenhagen 22-24 October 2018.

Thank you for participating in our survey. We were blown away by the number of responses we received. The survey was sent out to 2029 members and 549 submitted an answer within only 10 days. It means a great deal to experience such a level of interest in the development of Danida Alumni Network.

As a new initiative to boost local alumni activities the Danida Fellowship Centre has begun offering activity grants to members of the Danida Alumni Network. The first activity has already taken place in Uganda and it was a great success.

As a new initiative to boost local alumni activities Danida Fellowship Centre offers activity grants to Danida alumni who are accepted as members of the Danida Alumni Network (DAN).

Kenya is the latest country to establish a local chapter of the Danida Alumni Network. On February 8th 2018, about eighty former Danida fellows gathered at the Danish Ambassador’s Residence in Nairobi to establish a formal Danida Alumni Network in Kenya. The network’s goal is to further strengthen the bonds between Kenya and Denmark by promoting cooperation, networking and the sharing of ideas among professionals and Danish partners.

Recruitment is never a straightforward process. Alumni trained at Danish institutions may have an advantage, if they seek employment at Grundfos Vietnam.

In 2011, steps were taken to make the ancient town Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal a car free zone. Sadly, there are still too many vehicles in the ancient town. Architect and Danida alumni Saroj Prasad Shestha, Nepal looks to Copenhagen and Seoul for solutions. 

The event will take place on Thursday 8 February 2018 from 2:00 – 6:00pm and will be divided into two sessions. During the first session, Danida alumni in Kenya will discuss how to organise the network and plan future activities and the second session will celebrate the launch of the Danida Kenya alumni network.

Proud and happy winners received the prices for Denmark-Vietnam Alumni Network’s Raising Awareness on Green City Solutions competition. It is the kind of meaningful activity we like to see our alumni to engage in, says Lene Mosegaard, Danida Alumni Network.

Exciting future activities were proposed when Danida alumni met on December 1 to discuss the Next Step for the Uganda - Danida Alumni Network. Legal Clinics and public talk shows about corruption were some of the ideas that came up during the brainstorm session. More than 30 Danida alumni meet Friday afternoon on 1 December 2017 to discuss the next step for Danida alumni in Uganda. 

Under the title “Meet and Greet the Nordic alumni” sixty Nordic alumni, two Nordic ambassadors and members from the Nordic Business Association in Uganda, NBA met on the evening of 30 November in Kampala for networking, snacks, drinks and “hygge”.

DFC offers activity grants to Danida alumni who are accepted as members of the Danida Alumni Network via the network’s portal.  The call for applications is open from 4 December 2017 to 26 January 2018. We plan to advertise an open call 3–4 times a year depending on the lessons learnt from this first round. Applicants will be informed about the outcome of their applications at the latest six weeks after the deadline for applications. Why activity grants?

Danida alumni in Uganda will meet to talk about the Next Steps for Danida alumni in Uganda on Friday 1 December 2:15 – 4pm. The event, that will take place at Piato Restaurant, Plot 20, Lumumba Avenue, Kampala follows the very first Danida Alumni Network event in Uganda that was hosted by the Danish Embassy in March 2017. We are now ready to discuss the future set-up and activities for Danida Alumni Network in Uganda.

True to tradition the Nordic Business Association in Uganda invite members and friends to an annual end of year event. This year, the theme is Meet and Greet the Nordic alumni. It will take place 6-9pm at Restaurant L’Epicurien / Atmosphere Lounge, 34 Windsor Cresent, Kololo, Kampala.

Every year around 1000 professionals from the developing and growth and transition countries that Denmark collaborate with are granted a Danida fellowship.
