GHANA
Empowering Rural Women In The Shea Nut Industry
This activity (training program) was designed for rural women in Northern Ghana who produce Shea Butter. In order to increase their low incomes, they were trained in the skill of Shea soap production through this program. Read more here
Stakeholders forum on opportunities for managing coconut residue in Accra and team
The aim of this stakeholder forum was to provide a platform for discussing and formulating an executable road map for managing the waste generated from the sale of coconuts. Read more here
KENYA
Sensitization on Climate Smart Agricultural Technologies and Dryland Forestry Products
To address the increasing deforestation and cycles of droughts in Kenyan three Danida alumni organized an open day to sensitize the local community in the lower eastern region. Read more here
Workshop to strengthen ties between Danida alumni in academia and industry
The event took place in Kenyatta Hospital Grounds in Nairobi to strengthen the local alumni community so as to create a platform that brought members from academia and industry together. As such, members were able to know each other well and also get to know the various strategic partnerships involved within the network. Read more here
Promoting Environmental Conservation through Tree Planting and Bee Keeping Activities
The activity successfully planted 4000 seedlings, issued 2000 tree seedlings to farmers and an additional 2000 distributed to 9 schools in Baringo county. 12 bee hives was also issued to two community conservancy groups as an alternative source of income. The community was later sensitized on environmental and biodiversity conservation.
TANZANIA
The Taste of Morogoro Food Festival
The event was in partnership with Morogoro municipal community to effect the link between University and community in addressing food safety challenges through behavior change communication approach. Read more here

Strengthening School Menstrual Hygiene Management
The goal of the project was to strengthen the capacity of adolescent girls, boys, teachers and school management in Lira Sub-County, Lira District, to manage their menstruation effectively and in a hygienic way through improved knowledge, attitude and practices and access to affordable reusable sanitary menstrual materials. Sustainable Waste Management through Innovative Technologies
The activity was aimed at engaging different stakeholders in discussing approaches towards encouraging and supporting innovative and best practices towards achieving sustainable waste management in Gulu. Read more here
Sustaining Young Adolescents in Schools through Menstrual Hygiene Management
Following on from last year's activity, this project aimed to develop the capacity of adolescent girls and boys as well as teachers and school management in Lira Sub-County, in support of improved menstrual hygiene management. Ultimately, the goal is to sustain girls in school through increased knowledge, change in attitude and access to affordable and hygienic menstrual materials. In total 215 pupils were trained in menstrual hygiene management and the production of reusable sanitary pads. Read more here
