Exciting future activities were proposed when Danida alumni met on December 1 to discuss the Next Step for the Uganda - Danida Alumni Network. Legal Clinics and public talk shows about corruption were some of the ideas that came up during the brainstorm session.
More than 30 Danida alumni meet Friday afternoon on 1 December 2017 to discuss the next step for Danida alumni in Uganda.
Under the title “Meet and Greet the Nordic alumni” sixty Nordic alumni, two Nordic ambassadors and members from the Nordic Business Association in Uganda, NBA met on the evening of 30 November in Kampala for networking, snacks, drinks and “hygge”.
DFC offers activity grants to Danida alumni who are accepted as members of the Danida Alumni Network via the network’s portal.
The call for applications is open from 4 December 2017 to 26 January 2018. We plan to advertise an open call 3–4 times a year depending on the lessons learnt from this first round.
Applicants will be informed about the outcome of their applications at the latest six weeks after the deadline for applications.
Why activity grants?
Danida alumni in Uganda will meet to talk about the Next Steps for Danida alumni in Uganda on Friday 1 December 2:15 – 4pm.
The event, that will take place at Piato Restaurant, Plot 20, Lumumba Avenue, Kampala follows the very first Danida Alumni Network event in Uganda that was hosted by the Danish Embassy in March 2017. We are now ready to discuss the future set-up and activities for Danida Alumni Network in Uganda.
True to tradition the Nordic Business Association in Uganda invite members and friends to an annual end of year event. This year, the theme is Meet and Greet the Nordic alumni. It will take place 6-9pm at Restaurant L’Epicurien / Atmosphere Lounge, 34 Windsor Cresent, Kololo, Kampala.
Every year around 1000 professionals from the developing and growth and transition countries that Denmark collaborate with are granted a Danida fellowship. We are proud to announce that we on 31st August will award Danida Alumni Prize 2017. The prize is awarded annually to an alum who has made significant contributions to positive change in his or her home country or professional field based on his or her studies in Denmark.This year the prize goes to Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General.
Danida Alumni Network-Ghana, together with its stakeholders join Danida Fellowship Centre in an Anniversary reception August 31st in three zones (Accra, Kumasi and Tamale) in Ghana. Find the full programme here.
Congratulations to our three BSU Masters from Ghana, who were chosen among several thousands of applicants to participate in UNLEASH in August in Copenhagen.
The three participants selected are: Mr Eugene Dela Setsoafia, Mr Eugene Jojo Arthur and Mr Godwin Festival Boateng. They are part of a group of 76 Masters from Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya and Nepal, who have studed in Denmark on a Danida Fellowship as part of the BSU programme.
On Friday 24th March, the Danish Embassy in Uganda hosted its first Danida Alumni Network meeting. It brought together Ugandans from many regions, government, private sector, academia and civil society. The idea is now to establish a local Danida Alumni Network to promote cooperation, networking and sharing of ideas among Ugandan professionals, who have studied in Denmark.
