Funding available for the 5th Joint Nordic Conference on Development Research

FAU - The Association of Development Researchers in Denmark
nv

Note that the application deadline for this opportunity is 3rd March!

This year’s Nor-Dev conference is the 5th of its kind and takes place 27-28 June at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. Its focus will be on addressing the asymmetrical power relations and the deepening divides between North and South. In particular, it will seek to explore some of the most worrying trends contributing to this divide, such as restrictions on academic movement, prioritization of North-centred agendas and lack of interest in addressing key social and environmental challenges in the South.

You can find additional information on the conference here as well as on the conference website.

Who can apply, what is the process and what is expected?

DFC will finance the conference fee and travel costs of two selected members of the Danida Alumni Network, engaged in development research, provided they are also selected to present research papers or a poster at this year’s Nor-Dev conference in Copenhagen.

The application process: Applicants may come from a university, research institution, public or private organisation. Abstracts for research papers must be submitted to the 5th Joint Nordic Conference on Development Research by the deadline of 3rd March. This call and its selection process are fully managed by the conference team and you can find full details and criteria in the call document on the conference website, along with relevant contact details.

Please note that it is VERY IMPORTANT that you state at the top of your application that you are a ‘Danida Alumni’. Your email submission must be sent to the FAU Secretariat (fau.msc@cbs.dk), with the DAN team in copy (alumni@dfcentre.dk) by the deadline.

Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the selection process during the week commencing 18th March.

DFC’s expectations: Beyond being required to prepare and present a research paper/poster at the conference, DFC additionally expects successful applicants to share their conference paper and any related learnings with fellow Danida alumni upon their return home, as part of further stimulating debate and drawing on relevant experience within the Danida Alumni Network.
